Gleshygolgan Flax Mill, Plumbridge, Co. Tyrone
The mill was constructed prior to 1880 and has been in the same family for generations. The building was restored in 2007 and an Ossberger cross flow turbine was installed in 2008.
As part of the turbine installation, a purpose built weir and intake were constructed and a 430 meter long penstock was installed.
The turbine now provides sufficient energy to provide the electrical and heating needs of one of our owners and is also used as our demonstration site.
